Divide total accounts receivable by average daily gross charges. Average daily gross charges are the gross charges for a period, usually the last 90 days, divided by the number of days in that period.
Many practices aim for under 40 days, and under 30 is strong for most specialties.
Payments received divided by gross charges minus contractual adjustments, times 100. It shows how much of what you are allowed to collect you actually collect.
A common target is a clean claim rate of 95 percent or higher and a denial rate under 5 percent.
